With all the school activities going around, you might wonder where in the world you might find time to practice shooting some hoops! As a netball player and a student, you are already involved in team practice and playing in tournaments. You also have assignments to do, extra-curricular activities to attend to, and other personal matters you need to spend time on. If you are dead-serious about getting better in netball, then you surely will find time. Actually, it is not about finding time; it is about dedicating specific time schedule for shooting practice and sticking with it.

One of the best ways to manage personal training is to come to netball practice ahead of your teammates or spend another half hour at the end of the practice. Do not let any activity interfere with your own set schedule. If your practice starts at 4 PM, start shooting hoops at the gym as early as 3 PM. That way, you can further develop your shooting prowess.

Here are some routines that can make your shooting workout more challenging.

Shooting rotation. Pick at least five spots on the floor and shoot at least five times in each location. You Mix this up with shooting one ball in one position then moving to another to shoot one more. Practicing in one position continuously will give you a better idea of how to throw the ball to the hoop. Once you get your rhythm on that spot, practice it consistently until you master it. Moving from one location to another simulates actual game situation where you might need to shoot the ball at any given instance. Also shoot the ball as if there is an opponent in front of you. This way, you will be able to think of how to evade your opponent while putting the ball through the ring.

Get your best buddy to play with you. Encourage a teammate or two to come with you to your personal practice session. With other people with you, you can vary your shooting practice by including the element of passing.

Include cardio exercises. Although in regulation netball game you are not allowed to move your feet while holding the ball, do some running and shooting while you are alone. This way, you develop your cardio strength while improving your shooting skills.
